Design and integration of value chains for the processing of marine biomass based on environmental indicators towards a marine biorefiney
REFERENCE: Grant Agreement 101032922
FUNDING: 259.398,72 €
FUNDING BODY: Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Programme of the European Union. H2020-MSCA-IF-2020
DURATION: Start: 10/01/2022 End: 09/30/2025
ROLE: CSIC Coordinator and Post-Doc Supervisor
OBJECTIVES:
The general aim of this project is to assess different scenarios of valorisation of marine biomass (discards and by-products) including the design, optimisation and integration of the biocompounds production processes with medium-high value added for use as bioactive compounds of interest to the food, pharmaceutical or nutraceutical industries, by using more efficient as well as more environmental friendly and sustainable practices in a marine biorefinery approach. The expected results will allow the development of a set of optimal and flexible processes and operations that present as advantages their low cost, scalability and compatibility with the environment (by using clean/green technologies) when compared to the conventional procedures.

DURATION: Start: 09/01/2022 End: 08/31/2025
ROLE: Principal Investigator
OBJECTIVES:
The main objective of the coordinated Project will be the project will be proposing a conceptual model/framework for DT building in industrial systems management. More precisely, in the subproject leaded by the Bio2Eng team, the aims will be the development and improvement of methods and tools for data treatment as well as data quality and validation in order to feed a Digital Twin in real time; the characterization of uncertainty; the development of data-based modelling methods and; the development of real-time model update methods.

FUNDING: 279.065,98 €
FUNDING BODY: Plan de Recuperación, Transformación y Resiliencia y los Fondos Europeos Next Generation EU en el marco del RD 685/2021
DURATION: Start: 02/01/2021 End: 01/12/2023
ROLE: Principal Investigator
OBJECTIVES:
The main objectives of tIPES include the evaluation and validation of the use of remote electronic monitoring systems (REM) in the Spanish national fisheries. We are performing an in-depth analysis of the available technologies and their implementation, taking into account the specificities of each fishery, impact and European regulatory requirements. The project includes the technological development of an innovative, disruptive electronic observation system based on the iObserver to be fully implemented in Spanish fisheries. This technical evolution will meet the minimum technical requirements and standards for these REM systems established by the European Fisheries Control Agency (EFCA) so that it can be used by the Spanish fleet as a tool to monitor, document and promote compliance with the landing obligation included in the Common Fisheries Policy (CFP) of the EU.

Sostenibilidad pesquera y protección de la biodiversidad de ecosistemas marinos vulnerables
REFERENCE: MAP2107001
FUNDING: 316.285 €
FUNDING BODY: Plan de Recuperación, Transformación y Resiliencia y los Fondos Europeos Next Generation EU en el marco del RD 685/2021
DURATION: Start: 02/01/2021 End: 01/12/2023
ROLE: Researcher
OBJECTIVES:
The general objective of this project is to diagnose the risk situations that fishing activities could affect vulnerable marine ecosystems (VME) and to develop early detection mechanisms and damage prevention strategies for the protection of VMEs.
More related with our Marine Process Engineering reasearch line, we are studying the use of new technologies for monitoring EMV, specifically, the adaptation of our remote electronic monitoring system iObserver for recording and identifying representative/indicator species of analyzed VMEs.
