I graduated in Chemistry in 2001 and received my Ph. D. in 2008, both at the University of Vigo. I am currently a permanent researcher at the Biosystems and Bioprocess Engineering group (IIM-CSIC, Vigo). My research lines focus on the development of tools and strategies regarding mathematical modeling, digitalization, optimization, and control with applications in the biotechnological and agro-food sectors.

I am a physicist graduated from the University of Santiago de Compostela. Due to my interest in applied mathematics, I decided to study a master in mathematical engineering that helped me to broaden my skills solving industrial problems. I did the master’s final project about Monte Carlo methods and its application to value at risk calculation. After that, I was working in the financial sector until I resolved to move to bioprocess engineering field. I am currently working with mathematical models to predict fish deterioration.

Silvia Muñoz, Post-doc researcher
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology from the University of León and completed my Ph.D. in 2020 at the University of Vigo, focusing my research on biochemical studies of food products to prevent metabolic alterations.
Currently, in collaboration with the group of Microbiology and Technology of Marine Products, my research focuses on the study of food quality and safety, and involves the exploration of non-invasive technologies to evaluate the organoleptic properties and value of marine products. To this aim, I engage in the development of models that enable the prediction of biological system behaviors, particularly those associated with food processing and preservation.
